Terms of Service

Date Created: December 22, 2023

It should be noted that DreamEngine Publishing and DreamEngine Productions are separate companies that share the same website. The terms of service are stated separately below.

DreamEngine Publishing

Welcome to DreamEngine Publishing, a hybrid publishing company dedicated to empowering authors through professional publishing and marketing services. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website (www.dreamengine.co.uk) and our services, including publishing, marketing, website design, and KDP optimisation. By accessing our site or using our services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our site or services.

Acceptance of Terms
Your use of our site and services constitutes acceptance of these Terms, which may be updated periodically. Continued use after changes implies acceptance of the revised Terms. You must be at least 18 years old to use our services.

Services Provided
DreamEngine offers hybrid publishing, assisted self-publishing, book marketing, social media planning, author website development (WordPress only), and KDP listing optimisation. Services are provided on a fee basis as outlined in your agreement. We aim to deliver high-quality editing, design, marketing, and distribution, but success is not guaranteed due to market variables.

User Obligations
You agree to provide accurate information, pay all fees promptly, and comply with applicable laws. Authors must warrant that their manuscripts are original, not infringing on third-party rights, and free of defamatory content. You are responsible for reviewing and approving all deliverables.

Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of your manuscript and rights not expressly granted. By engaging our services, you grant DreamEngine Publishing a non-exclusive license to edit, design, publish, market, and distribute your work as agreed. We retain rights to our tools, templates, and proprietary materials.

Payments and Royalties
Fees for services are due as specified in your contract. For hybrid publishing, royalties are typically 50/50 on net income after costs. Refunds are not provided for completed services. Late payments may incur fees.

Hybrid Publishing Offers
All Hybrid Publishing Offers made by DreamEngine Publishing are conditional on the payment of all reasonable and agreed production costs. These costs include, but are not limited to, manuscript editing, cover design, and interior design for both print and ebook formats. The specific costs applicable to each publication will be agreed in writing with the author prior to commencement of work. Hybrid Publishing Offers are further dependent on the payment of the prevailing Publishing Services Fee at the time the offer is made. The Publishing Services Fee is subject to change. The fee applicable to an author is the fee in force at the date the offer is formally accepted in writing.

Warranties and Liabilities
We provide services "as is" without warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. DreamEngine Publishing is not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages, including lost profits. Our liability is limited to the fees paid for the service. You indemnify us against claims arising from your content, including infringement or defamation.

Termination
Either party may terminate the contract for material breach with 30 days' notice. Upon termination, we may cease services, and you must pay outstanding fees. Rights revert to you, subject to ongoing royalties or licenses.

Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of England.

Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Your continued use constitutes acceptance.

Author Mythology

Your book is ready. Your author identity may not be.

Before a literary agent reads your manuscript, they search your name. Before a reader buys your book, they look you up. Author Mythology is DreamEngine's process for building the complete author identity that makes both take you seriously.

Submit Your Manuscript

Ready to find out if DreamEngine is the right publisher for your book?

Publishing with DreamEngine

DreamEngine Publishing offers two routes to professional publication: hybrid publishing for authors who want to retain their rights and receive higher royalties than a traditional deal allows, and traditional publishing for authors whose manuscript and platform meet our selection criteria. For a complete overview of all routes, read our guide to book publishing. Both routes begin with the Author Mythology process, which builds your complete author identity before your book reaches the market.

For authors building that platform, DreamEngine offers social media management for authors and author website design, both developed from a complete author identity brief. Manuscript development is available through our story consultancy with Dr. David Baboulene PhD. For authors already published, our book marketing service supports promotional campaigns and reader engagement.

Navigating the Publishing Landscape

Before you submit or publish, it helps to understand the options clearly. Our guides to what is hybrid publishing, what is traditional publishing, and what is self-publishing explain the real differences in investment, rights, and royalties. If you are approaching agents or publishers, read why literary agents search your name before they read your manuscript.

For authors at the production and marketing stage, our posts on professional book editing, book cover design, professional book design, and how to optimise your Amazon KDP book listing provide practical guidance. To build your author platform, read our posts on social media for authors, websites for authors, and book publicity.
